BMW MOT

The MOT test: don't fail your BMW

The pass that means peace of mind. If your BMW is over three years old, it will require an annual MOT inspection. It's a standard inspection of over 150 safety-related and emission systems, including lights, steering, brakes and suspension, at a government standard charge of £54.00 And thanks to BMW's engineering standards, passing should be a formality. But there's always a chance that something could have been damaged without you realising it. The official MOT test is a useful annual safety check - and we are ideal people to take care of the test and any repair work. Our technicians have specialised BMW training and only use Genuine BMW Parts to replace like-for-like, if necessary. Once your vehicle has been tested you will receive the official VT20 certificate which is your receipt for the MOT test and shows the information that will be held on the MOT database. If your vehicle should require any recommended additional work this will be listed on the advisory notice of the VT32 document.

What the MOT test covers:

Bonnet catch
Horn
Number plate and VIN
Lights
Brakes
Wheels and tyres
Mirrors
Doors
Seats
Vehicle structure
Suspension
Fuel system
Exhaust and emissions
Seat belts
Steering
Windscreen

Save yourself time and trouble.

Book your BMW for its annual MOT with us and we’ll take care of everything. Before submitting it for the test we’ll check it over - pre-warning you of any potential problem, such as tyres nearing their legal limit, even if it won't fail the test itself. You'll save time and money - and have the reassurance that you're safer for the road ahead.

From spring this year, VOSA examiners will use new powers to issue fixed penalties at the roadside for offences related to mechanical defects. Penalties will vary between £30 and £200, depending on the severity of the offence. Drivers of vehicles with defects relating to tyres, steering and brakes will face the prospect of points on their driving licences.

The new legislation will also allow VOSA to take ‘on the spot’ penalty payments from drivers unable to provide an address in the UK where they can be found in connection with any proceedings.
